Life is an open-ended adventure that leads us back to our true self

About us

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. And when we bring what is within us out into the world, miracles happen.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hailing from Austria, Evita & Christina, (nee Elfi and Christiane Sageder), is a sisterly musical act, which unexpectedly rose to fame during the Eighties while singing their way across Africa, Asia, and Arabia following a deep desire to seek life’s ultimate meaning.

From the time Elfi and Christiane were little girls, both were fascinated with far away places and harbored dreams of one day traveling the world. Born into a musical family and growing up with the rich heritage of Mozart and Beethoven, the sisters were immersed in music from an early age. Christiane studied piano, ballet, tap and jazz dance throughout high school while finding competitive figure skating success in Austria and beyond. Older sister Elfi on the other hand was more drawn to singing English and American folk, pop, and country songs, playing her guitar. By the time she was a budding teen, she was spearheading a four piece folk band, performing on weekends and holidays.

While on summer vacation in Greece in 1981, jamming on the beach, Christiane discovered her voice and began harmonizing with her sister. Taken by complete surprise, Elfi encouraged Christiane to keep singing. Back home in Austria, the sisters pursued their hobby on weekends, honing their harmonies and building a repertoire of popular songs. As friends and family enjoyed the sisters’ unique sound, Elfi and Christiane didn’t have the slightest inkling that someday their talents would carry them beyond the Austrian hills into the most exotic of places.

That fall, a bizarre encounter flipped the world of the twenty-some sisters upside down, causing them to quit successful careers, pack their bags, and take off into the unknown, embarking on a road of self-discovery in search of life’s meaning. Along the way, with Elfi’s guitar and a tambourine in tow, serendipitous events propelled the daring duo, which soon dubbed themselves Evita & Christina, into singing fame.

Performing a vast repertoire of international pop, folk, and country hits in six languages, the lookalike sisters developed their signature sound, vowing audiences across Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Singapore, Monaco, France, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and Bahrain.

Their lives took another unexpected turn when cupid struck not once but twice in Abu Dhabi. Elfi married into the Arabic culture while Christiane tied the knot with an American from Kentucky, and both sisters made the capital city of the United Arab Emirates their home for several years.

What began simply as a far-fetched dream evolved into a five year global adventure, bringing these singing sisters a deeper understanding of what ultimately connects us all and what really matters in life, but also led them to the fulfillment of their destinies.
